Veistämö
At Veistämö, each piece is shaped by the hands and roots of the maker. We produce our products in Finland and continue the tradition of Finnish craftsmanship. Our collection includes ceramic jewelry and sculptural animal jars, all handmade in Nivala, Finland.
Our Story
Veistämö was born from a desire to continue our grandfather’s craft tradition in a new way.
We spent our childhood in Pahkaperä, a small village in Northern Ostrobothnia, where our grandfather carved animal figures from wood. We were also allowed to take part in making these wooden pieces. We quickly learned that working with our hands was much more than simply making an object. It became an extension of thought, and each figure that took shape told its own story. Veistämö began in those moments.
Veistämö was founded to preserve this heritage. We wanted to bring together craftsmanship and contemporary design. Together, we make our products by hand in our own workshop in Nivala.
Nature has always been an important source of inspiration for us. Its calm, natural forms, and clarity are reflected in Veistämö’s aesthetic and in every product we make.
We produce our products in small batches and finish every part by hand.
The Swan Jewelry pieces are shaped individually, and the same is true of the components of the Flower Jewelry collection. The animal jars in the Ikimetsä series are cast using moulds we make ourselves, after which each piece is carefully finished by hand. We do not manufacture anything industrially or with the help of machines. This makes every product genuinely unique, carrying the marks of its maker’s hand.
There is something meaningful about carrying or living with a small object that reminds you of the closeness of the forest and nature, even in everyday moments.
For us, Veistämö is a way to continue a craft tradition, honour past generations and nature, and create objects that carry meaning.
